Selling Broken or Damaged Gold Jewellery: You Lose Nothing

One of the most common misconceptions we hear is that damaged gold is worth less. It is not. Gold is valued by purity and weight, and a broken chain contains exactly as much gold as it did before it broke.
Condition does not change gold content
A professional buyer values the metal, not the design. Whether a piece is polished and boxed or tangled at the bottom of a drawer, the same karat and the same grams produce the same payout.
What we happily accept
- Broken and knotted chains
- Single earrings with no pair
- Bent or resized rings
- Old-fashioned pieces you will never wear again
- Dental gold and gold-filled findings (tested for actual content)
How to prepare damaged items
Do not attempt repairs — repair costs are never recovered in a sale. Do separate obviously different karats if you know them, remove any stones you want to keep, and bring everything in one visit so the weighing is done together.
Small odds and ends add up. Customers are regularly surprised by the total from a handful of scrap pieces they nearly threw away.
What we do not buy
We buy gold and silver outright from their rightful owner. We do not offer pawning or loans, and we do not purchase pawned or pledged items. Bring valid identification and items you own outright.
